My first submission to dA's film:

This is a segment from a video shot onboard the National Geographic Endeavour in Antarctica. The video is shot for Lindblad Expeditions (www.expeditions.com)

Shot using a Sony Z1U with various accessories. Edited using Final Cut Pro. Music is from a stock library.

What you see was shot and edited in about 20 hours.

@05:11Simply Amazing  This must have been such a beautiful experience for you.

I'd love to go on a trip like this someday. Was the whole trip only 20 hours, or was this only part of it?

@05:11Thanks! Its a great place indeed. The trip was 12 days, but I was shooting and editing segments each day. The whole video had to be completed by the end of those 12 days, so really each day had to be shot and edited within a 20 hour frame in order to be completed on time. So this was 4 hours shooting, 16 hours editing

Its not just protection from predators, and in fact we dont protect them from their natural predators. We must be conscience of our influence on them. We can't throw fish for them, or they'll become dependent on humans, just as one example. They are best to observe, and not to interfere with their natural course :)

@05:10The landscape is actually "fast ice". Or frozen ocean really. Thats why we're wearing life jackets, because we're really on about a meter of frozen salt water.

Were tourists allowed (if I remember correctly you said it was expedition) to accompany the trip?

Yes, absolutely. But because of constantly changing conditions, there are never certainties. Our ship had made it to this location for the first time in over 20 years. You may learn more about the company at [link] Not a shameless plug considering they are the ones who employed me to do the video ;)

@05:10Thanks for your kind words. I went to school to study video production with an intent on doing travel or edutainment video. It was a lot of hard work, and really I'm still in the infancy of my career. It took six months of aggressively pursuing work with this company, and even longer to earn this assignment.
