Aboard the National Geographic Sea Lion
Tracy Arm, Alaska (August 2009)
Glacier calving is particularly difficult to capture on tape, but I had a few good opportunities on this day. Certainly the largest calving I've seen.
Note: We maintained twice the minimum safe distance from the glacier face (we were bout .5 miles away). I will never forget the sound of the ballistic ice that overcame us.
This video is the last chapter of a much longer video shot for Lindblad Expeditions (www.expeditions.com)

Wow. I'm almost too overwhelmed by the topic to really critique. Such a beautiful and awesome encounter! The only thing that bugged me was the sound of the voices in the slow-mo part. I love the video, I just have a thing about the way voices get all low and growly in slow-mo. Makes me think of the old Pink Panther movies.
